549 people from the provinces of Serua and Namosi have received micro and small‑business grants from Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

While distributing the $1,000 cheques in Navua, Bainimarama says since its inception in 2015, the Micro and Small Business Grant Scheme has assisted 6,622 entrepreneurs with grant funding to the tune of $6.3 million.

He says these entrepreneurs have used the grant funding to start or expand their businesses ‑ and those businesses have ranged from cash cropping and poultry farming to tailoring and hairdressing.

He says his government is very keen to continue this support.

Bainimarama has urged all recipients to take ownership of this opportunity and use the grant assistance for its intended purposes.
