The Tobacco Control Enforcement Unit has booked 51 tobacco product retailers for not displaying proper signage.
These are the “No Smoking” and ‘“We do not sell tobacco products to persons under the age of 18‑years” signs.
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services is advising all tobacco product retailers to comply with the Tobacco Control Decree and display proper signage.
The Ministry says the absence of these signs constitutes an offence with a $1000 fine.
Should an offender fail to pay within 21 days, the matter will be taken to Court.
The Ministry of Health says the tobacco enforcement officers will be conducting random visits during the day and night to attend to complaints and conduct snap checks.
