50yr-old who pleaded guilty to raping daughter from the age of 12 to be sentenced today

A 50-year-old Nasinu man who had pleaded guilty to raping his daughter from when she was 12 years old will be sentenced today.

The man has been convicted of four counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and one count each of attempted rape and indecent assault.

The incidents occurred between January 2005 to December last year.

The girl who is now 24-years-old told the court that her father would come to her holding a knife or a hammer telling her to have sex with him or he would hurt her.

State lawyer Mehzabeen Khan while reading the summary of facts stated that the accused told his daughter if she wanted to have a boyfriend she has to have sex with him first.

She further stated that the accused knew that his daughter was not consenting to the acts however he told her that she reminded him of her mother and continued with the acts.
