Five people will appear in court today after they were caught for drunk driving over the weekend.
They were arrested during Traffic Operations conducted in the Southern Division.
Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra said drunk driving continues to be an area of concern and despite repeated pleas from authorities for drivers to practice safe driving habits, Police continue to record cases of drink and drive.
Meanwhile, Police have questioned and released a driver in relation to a fatal road accident at Kalokalo Crescent on Thursday.
A six-year-old student died in this accident.
Police say the student allegedly ran across the road from the rear side of the bus and was hit by a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old salesman.
The girl was rushed to the CWM Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
