Five people charged with murder and aggravated robbery have been given life sentences by the Suva High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo.
Rafaele Noa, Ilivasi Navunicagi and Eparama Tamanivakabauta have to serve a minimum of 20 years in prison before pardon may be considered by the President of Fiji, Sireli Lilo was given 14 years imprisonment with a non-parole period of 13 years while Iliesa Vakabua has been given 13 years imprisonment with a non-parole of 12 years.
The court heard that the five men broke into John Leonard Dass’s house in Lautoka and forcefully stole the properties between 21st and 22nd August 2010.
During the robbery, Dass was strangled to death.
