Five men have been arrested in four separate cases whereby dried leaves believed to be marijuana were found in their possession.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro says they received information on Saturday, and a team of officers searched the house of a 41-year-old man of Namotomoto, Nadi and found a plastic bag containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
Naisoro says they also carried out two separate searches where three men were arrested after they were found with dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
She says the first case was reported in Nadi Town when an officer based at the Nadi Police Station was on beat patrol and noticed a 24-year-old man of Nakurakura, Nadi acting in a suspicious manner.
Naisoro says a search was conducted and 5 sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana was found in his possession.
She says the second incident was also reported on Friday when a team of officers from the Rakiraki Police Station was on beat patrol and searched two men aged 22 and 24 years old of Namuimada and found 12 sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana in their possession.
Yesterday a team from the Labasa Police Station raided the house of a 40 year old farmer and found 2 containers with plants believed to be marijuana.
Naisoro says the suspect also led the officers to his farm where they uprooted close to 200 plants believed to be marijuana.
Police say officers continue their focus on drugs all over the country and they are also grateful for the assistance and support shown by members of the public who have been supplying them with information.
Police are also encouraging members of the public to call Crime Stoppers 919 and report drug related activities.
