Five officers working at the Nadi International Airport were given special recognition as part of their outstanding services to visitors at the international gateway.
While presenting the Fijian Hosts Awards programme, Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya urged them to continue providing visitors the highest of services.
Koya says the awards programme would undergo a major revamp and will not only be limited to those service providers only at the airport.
He says it’s important that all the tourism services are part of the programme, which recognizes the service providers for their excellent service and at the same time requires that the industry invests in its people.
Koya says that they are revamping the Fijian Hosts programme to make it sustainable and an all-encompassing programme covering the frontline agencies at the airport and all other tourism services.
He added the concept of the revamped programme will focus on certification of service providers, training, auditing of service providers, complaints handling mechanism and giving the Fijian Hosts Council the due relevance.
