48yr-old man charged with unlawful possession of illicit drugs granted bail

A 48-year-old man charged with unlawful possession of illicit drugs has been granted bail by the Suva Magistrates Court.

Varinava Navakadere is alleged to have been found in possession of 419.5 grams of marijuana on the 4th of December this year.

Police prosecutor Walter Taito informed the court that the accused was found with $1,282.20 cash upon his arrest which was considered to be proceeds of crime.

he had also objected to bail on the grounds that the offence has become very prominent and the amount was considerable.

Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa granted him bail in the sum of $500 with one surety who has signed a surety bond of $300.

The case has been adjourned to 31st January next year for plea.
