A 45-year-old farmer has today pleaded not guilty to the charges of rape and sexual assault of his mother and niece before High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar.
The man is charged with 4 counts of rape and 2 counts of sexual assault.
The man is alleged to have raped and sexually assaulted his 9 year old niece between the 15th of January to the 31st of December 2017.
The man also allegedly raped his 63-year-old mother.
It is alleged that between the 1st of January to the 31st of December 2016 he had carnal knowledge of his 63-year-old mother without her consent.
It is also alleged that the man between the 21st of July to the 31st of August 2017 had carnal knowledge of her 63-year-old mother without her consent.
The charges laid on him are from two separate matters which occurred in Kadavu.
The accused has been further remanded in custody and the case has been adjourned to the 14th of next month.
