4,430 people have so far applied for registration for the Government’s free medicine initiative.
Assistant Health Minister Veena Bhatnagar said under this initiative people can get listed medicine from private pharmacies for free.
Bhatnagar said 42 pharmacies are part of this program and 72 types of medicine are listed which could be obtained for free.
She said those earning $30,000 and below can register for this program and the forms could be obtained from health facilities around the country.
She said people won’t have to wait for long hours to access the government pharmacy in cases of emergency.
Bhatnagar added when medicine is out of stock at pharmacies in Hospitals, people can always get the medicine from private pharmacies.
She said those registered will be given a card which they can use to get the medicine.
