44% of children in cyclone affected areas are malnourished - Usamate

44 percent of children under the age of five years in cyclone affected areas are malnourished.

While delivering his speech in Parliament, Minister for Health Jone Usamate said this is quite startling in Fiji that children from some of the agriculture rich places such as Kadavu and Koro are malnourished.

Usamate said they have deployed health workers to focus on raising awareness in villages and evacuation centers on the importance of setting meal times for children.

He added that the parents were told to feed their children at least five times a day with the available food and rations.
