43 rape cases have been taken to the court by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in June compared to 35 in the month of May.
The DPP’s Office confirms there are 32 people charged with a total of 47 separate incidents of serious sexual offences last month.
These include two people under the age of 18 years.
There were three cases of defilement and one case of indecent assault.
The DPP’s Office says there were 25 victims out of which 15 were under the age of 18 years.
Three were between the ages of 3 and 6 years while twelve were between the ages of 13 and 17 years.
There were two serious sexual offences that involved couples in domestic relationships.
According to the DPP’s Office, six cases were discontinued before the courts after discontinuances were filed for five rape matters and one defilement matter.
Three were withdrawn after it was found that complainants had given false information.
