426 dengue fever cases recorded so far

426 confirmed dengue fever cases have been recorded so far.

The Health Ministry said 323 dengue fever cases have been recorded from the Northen Division .

Macuata province recorded the highest number with 308, nine have been recorded from Cakaudrove, two from Bua and four cases were recorded from Taveuni.

Health Ministry said due to the outbreak Macuata province has the majority of the confirmed cases of dengue this year, however weekly numbers in the province have remained at a steady rate for the past few months.

Health Ministry said Western Division have recorded 56 while 47 cases have been recorded in the Central Division.

A dengue and litter task-force has been activated in the Macuata Province which will  help in the clean up of the settlements,  schools and Government stations.

Health Ministry said the Labasa town council has been approached to collect the garbage from places identified by the task-force.

Possible dump sites are also being looked at particularly for Seaqaqa and outer Labasa zones.
