A grant of $40,000 has been given to the Lautoka City Council to help deal with soil erosion in the municipality.
Lautoka City Council CEO Jone Nakauvadra says the grant given by the Ministry of Waterways will focus on ensuring that problems like soil erosion which is being experienced by residents are dealt with.
He says the grant will be used to fund a maintenance program and their priority is the creeks in Waiyavi, Vomo Street, and Musuniwai.
This project is expected to be completed by July this year.
