The Fiji Electricity Authority Team Leader Cashier told the Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Public Enterprises Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum during a bonus handing over ceremony today that only 40 percent of the staff at FEA are happy while 60 percent are unhappy.
Kameli Drotini said this just after Sayed-Khaiyum declared a performance bonus payout of $1.324 million for the staff of FEA at the Authority headquarters in Suva.
Drotini asked Sayed-Khaiyum if the bonus structure of FEA can be reviewed like Fiji Airways.
Sayed-Khaiyum then gave an explanation to Drotini saying it required a huge change in mindset of the staff of Fiji Airways to get to where they are today.
He says it also required an absence of unionists who had completely no understanding of finance or commerce.
Sayed-Khaiyum says people have to understand the risks involved in the positions they hold in an organisation.
He also spoke on calls made earlier to set the minimum wage rate at $4 an hour.
Sayed-Khaiyum then told the staff of FEA that FEA is now looking at new ways of reducing its operating costs.
A performance bonus payout of $1.324 million has been announced for the 735 staff of the Fiji Electricity Authority for 2015.
Sayed-Khaiyum made the announcement this morning saying $876,000 of the performance bonus will go towards the salary and wage earners of FEA.
Sayed-Khaiyum told the staff of FEA that Fiji’s economy is in a very interesting phase and the workers need to play a pivotal and critical role.
He told the staff that they all need to change.
