Four new National Fire Authority stations are expected to be opened in the country soon.
This has been revealed by the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto while officiating at the recent passing out parade of the new firefighter recruits.
Naupoto says these fire stations are going to be constructed soon in Lami, Nabouwalu, Rakiraki and Nakasi and will add on to the 18 current fire stations that are currently operational.
Naupoto says the Government has also purchased new equipment, fire trucks and emergency ambulances as their show of support towards the NFA's role in keeping the people of Fiji safe.
Meanwhile the National Fire Authority confirms that the construction of these new fire stations will begin in two months.
The government has given a grant of $2.4 million for this project.
