A four member Fiji Parliament Delegations led by the Speaker Dr. Jiko Luveni are currently visiting the United Kingdom.
The delegations began their visit with a meeting with the European Parliament Information Office and with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.
In their meeting with the European Parliament Information Office the delegations were briefed the powers and work of the European Parliament.
One of particular interest was the way in which the European Parliament develop its outreach work to explain to citizens the work being undertaken by the Parliament.
Meanwhile, the meeting with Westminster Foundation for Democracy discussed the work that the Foundation undertakes in different parts of the world in supporting parliaments and in supporting the work of political parties.
The delegations are now scheduled to visit and have a meeting in the Westminster Parliament, the Scottish Parliament and the National Assembly for Wales.
The Fiji delegations include the Secretary General to Parliament Viniana Namosimalua, Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa, and Leader of Government Pio Tikoduadua.
The visit is organized by the UNDP Parliament support project which is funded by the European Union and the Government of New Zealand, Japan and Australia.
