3,964 homes and five schools are being assisted through water carting in the Western Division as a result of the prolonged dry spell which is currently being experienced in the country.
Commissioner Western, Manasa Tagicakibau says water carting has already begun in the 10 districts especially in Yasawa Group, Mamanuca Group and also to some communities in the division.
Meanwhile Commissioner Northern, Jovesa Vocea says some schools in the rural areas have already requested for water tanks.
He says his office is working with the Water Authority on carting water to the affected areas.
He says the reservoir levels have not reached the critical level.
The commissioner says that National Fire Authority and Police are also monitoring any bush fires in the Northern Division.
