An emotional and proud mother and a former magistrate Alofa Seruvatu today moved the petition for her son to be admitted to the Suva High Court as a lawyer.
Thirty seven new lawyers and barristers were sworn in and admitted to the bar before Chief Justice Anthony Gates this morning.
Simione Seruvatu who was also sworn in today said he worked hard to reach where he is today.
He also has a message for the youths out there.
It was also a proud moment of a mother of two, Lanieta Waitale who struggled from the age of 22 to complete her studies.
The 47-year-old is the first from her family to become a lawyer.
She said she had to sacrifice her studies to look after her siblings when her mother passed away.
Her youngest sibling was six years old however she continued her studies and aimed for a degree.
She was also awarded a scholarship and it took her five and a half years to complete her studies.
Chief Justice Anthony Gates urged the new lawyers to act responsibly at all times.
