The Fiji Commerce Commission received 302 complaints in regards to the tenancy agreement last year.
Commission’s CEO Joel Abraham has confirmed this adding that there were 64 cases of breaches.
He says the breaches include illegal rental increase, non-issuance of receipt and non-issuance of agreement.
He adds those found to have breached the tenancy agreement were issued infringement notices, fined or even prosecuted.
Abraham says that public consultation of the proposed Landlord and Tenants Act is scheduled to start from late January.
