More than 300 families living in Qauia settlement in Lami will be given residential leases soon.
This was highlighted by the i-Taukei Land Trust Board official, Akuila Raibevu during the i-Taukei Institutions public consultations last night in Qauia.
A question was raised by Savenaca Bulivakarua at the public consultation last night on the status of the land in Qauia.
The mataqali Nasevou of Lami village are the rightful owners of Qauia.
Last August, the Ministry of Housing and the i-Taukei Land Trust Board signed an MOU to have a development lease for four informal settlements.
These settlements include Qauia and Nadonumai settlements in Lami, Wakanisila settlement in Kalabu and Waidamudamu settlement in Koronivia as they will be given 99 year residential leases.
