Three siblings who lost their 40-year-old mother on Christmas day last year following a fire at Natavora Water Bar and Restaurant are trying to forget everything and move ahead in their lives.
The fire claimed the life of 40-year-old Naomi Vakatawani and left her 8-year-old daughter severely injured.
It is alleged that the incident was a result of a domestic dispute between Vakatawani and her 65-year-old husband who has been on the run since 23rd December last year.
Police have been looking for Eliki Suka for almost a year now and the $1,000 reward is also being offered for any information which could lead to his arrest.
Vakatawani’s eldest son Gavidi Lagonilakeba, who is a school teacher, said this will be their first Christmas without their mother.
Lagonilakeba, who is now living in Labasa with his two siblings, said he is happy that they are far from Sigatoka as the place brings back memories which haunts his two sisters.
He added he will try to make his 8-year-old sister happy this Christmas as she has gone through a lot.
Lagonilakeba said his sister has finally started to walk without a wheelchair and crutches and is now looking forward to going to school next year.
The 8-year-old girl was airlifted to New Zealand for treatment earlier this year.
