Three people who allegedly stole a vehicle valued at $20,000 and illegally modified it appeared before Suva Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili yesterday.
They are each charged with one count of theft.
26 -year-old Donovan Kinesh Prasad, 40-year-old Shaiz Safran Hussein and 44-year-old Shirvendra Deo Singh have been released on bail with two sureties and $400 bail bond each.
All three will have to report to the Valelevu Police Station and surrender their travel documents.
The Police Prosecutor asked the Magistrate to impose a curfew on them but the defence lawyer, Prerna Pritika objected to this saying that Shirvendra Deo Singh who is the owner of a garage works late in the night and imposing a curfew on him will affect his livelihood.
The case is adjourned to the 13th of next month.
It is alleged that Prasad, Hussein and Singh stole a motor vehicle from Jerusalem Road in Nabua on 14th November last year and illegally modified the car using parts from other vehicles.
The alleged incident occurred in Shirvendra Kinesh Prasad’s garage.
