Three men have been questioned and released in relation to their alleged involvement in the death of a 50-year-old man in Rakiraki last Saturday.
Four men allegedly assaulted the 50-year old in Ellington along the Kings Road.
Police say the four men who were believed to be drunk at the time of the incident stopped the vehicle driven by the deceased, pulled the victim out and assaulted him.
As a result the man fell and got injured.
He was taken to the Rakiraki hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police say the victim was on his way to the village with his 10‑year‑old son.
According to Police, based on the outcomes of the post mortem examination the investigation file will be compiled and forwarded to the DPP’s Office for sanctioning.
