The Land Transport Authority has confirmed that three fake LTA officers have been handed over to the police this year.
Spokesperson Iliesa Sokia said the fake LTA officers called up random people requesting them to send in certain amount of money for new taxi permit.
Sokia added that after sending in the money the people are ordered to pick up their permit from the LTA office.
Upon arrival they realize they have been conned.
He said they have received reports from 7 people who became victims to this scam this year.
Meanwhile, in 2014 about 30 people were conned while 10 fake LTA officers were handed over to the police.
