Three employees of a prominent shopping mall in Suva are due to appear in court for allegedly obstructing Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority Officers during the course of their duties.
FRCA Chief Executive, Visvanath Das says the alleged incident took place when two tax officers were doing routine inspection last week.
Das says the Mall Administrator allegedly instructed two of its security guards to forcefully remove FRCA officers from the premises.
He says obstructing a FRCA officer is a serious offence under the Tax Administration Act and attracts a fine of up to $25,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 24 months or both.
Das says the government has provided a number of concessions to the people and businesses should ensure that these concessions are passed to consumers.
The three will appear in court at a later date.
