The second group of 12 Fijian workers under the New Zealand Recognized Seasonal Employer Work Scheme, left Nadi yesterday.
Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations said the group went through an intensive three day pre‑departure training this week.
This was conducted by the Foreign Employment Service in collaboration with Immigration New Zealand, Fiji Police Force, Ministry of Health & Medical Services and Kuruleca Counselling Service.
The training was to prepare these workers for employment in New Zealand.
Their individual employment contracts are for a period of 7 months and the workers were selected by East Pack Ltd, New Zealand’s largest grower owned post‑harvest kiwi-fruit supplier located at the Bay of Plenty.
