A brand new cargo and passenger vessel worth $28 million which made its maiden voyage to Fiji from Japan will be commemorated at the Suva Harbour this afternoon.

Trade Pacific Shipping Agency Limited General Manager Samuel Narayan says the vessel, Nivaga III, which arrived yesterday will be utilized for inter‑island transportation as well as trips to Fiji, Rotuma and other countries.

Narayan says Nivaga III is bigger than the existing vessels which can carry a total of 380 passengers in a trip and it also holds a bigger cargo capacity.

He adds the vessel which belongs to the Tuvalu Government was officially handed over to Tuvalu in December last year.

Trade Pacific Shipping Agency Limited is the shipping Agent of all Tuvalu Government vessels since 2010 which provides all the services such as Boarding, Customs Clearance when any of their vessels come to our shores.
