281 staff have been recruited by the Ministry of Health under its $10.8 million provisional recruitment fund which was announced in the 2015 national budget.
This includes 126 doctors, 238 nurses, 10 lab technicians, 12 dieticians, 17 dentists and 4 medical imaging technologists.
Minister for Health Jone Usamate confirmed this in parliament today after a question on this issue was raised by Opposition MP Biman Prasad.
Usamate said they used $9.6 million for this recruitment process.
441 new positions were supposed to be created under the $10.8 million provisional recruitment fund which was announced in the 2015 national budget.
