27 participants are currently being trained by an Australian medical team on major incidents management support.
Director Disaster Preparedness and Response, Abigail Trewin says this training allows authorities such as doctors, nurses, fire fighters, police and Saint John’s ambulance to systematically approach a large number of casualties and make sure that they provide excellent care and identification of those that need help.
Trewin says as the training ends tomorrow, participants will become qualified instructors and can apply what they have learnt to other authorities across Fiji.
One of the participants, Dr Vivek Lal says this sort of training will definitely help them if another cyclone hits the country or even when there are major accidents or tanker explosions.
