A 26‑year‑old man remains in police custody following the accident that claimed the life of 19‑year‑old FNU student, Nurainah Sheikh.
The accident occurred last night along Brown Street in Suva.
It is alleged that the suspect hit the victim while she was crossing at the pedestrian crossing near the FNU Hoodless House.
The 26 year old was driving towards Suva at the time of the incident.
Sheikh Mohammed Imraz who is the father of Nurainah Sheikh, says that it pains him to imagine Eid without his eldest daughter.
Imraz says that he had just finished his prayers after breaking his fast when he saw that he had 7 missed calls from his wife. He says that he did not know what to do when he was informed by his wife that his daughter was involved in an accident.
Imraz came to Suva from Nadi adding that he was informed on the way that their daughter is no more but he did not know how to inform his wife.
Nurainah Sheikh who was a first year Medical Science student at the Fiji National University’s School of Medicine will be laid to rest at 9 tonight.
