A 25-year-old man has passed away after the vehicle he was travelling in veered off the road and went into a drain.
Police have confirmed that the vehicle was driven by a 23-year-old whilst heading back to Nasarawaqa, Bua with 3 work mates when he allegedly failed to negotiate the bend along Labasa to Savusavu Highway near Waisali Hill and veered off the road, landing in a drain.
Police say all the passengers received treatment at the Seaqaqa Health Centre.
The 25-year-old victim was referred to the Labasa Hospital due to internal injuries and needed to undergo surgery but was later pronounced dead.
The road death toll stands at 34 compared to 34 for the same period last year.
