24 people were charged with a total of 30 counts of serious crimes last month.
According to the statistics by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, there were 9 cases of aggravated robbery, 1 case of attempted aggravated robbery, 3 cases of aggravated
burglary, 1 case of attempted aggravated burglary , 3 cases of theft, 2 cases of assault on police, 1 case of assault, 1 case of assault causing actual bodily harm , 4 cases of acts intended to cause grievous harm, 1 case of arson, 1 case of damaging property, 1 case of criminal intimidation, and 2 cases of receiving stolen property .
Of the 24 accused persons, 3 were juveniles, while there were 22 victims of the 30 cases.
There were 7 incidents where the accused and victims were related and one incident where a foreign national was robbed.
A 13‑year‑old boy was charged with attempted aggravated burglary of assorted items from his uncle’s home, in another incident, a 17‑year-old boy was charged with aggravated burglary and theft of $4600 worth of assorted items while in another incident a 17‑year‑old boy was charged with assault and rape of his 3‑year-old nephew.
There were 3 incidents where the accused were charged with acts intended to cause grievous harm to their family members. In one incident, a 64‑year‑old man was charged with act intended to cause grievous harm to his 33‑year‑old son, in another incident, a 26 year‑old man was charged for allegedly attacking his 86‑year‑old grandfather with a cane knife while in another
incident a 48‑year‑old man was charged for allegedly attacking his 43‑year‑old wife with a spear.
A 18‑year‑old man was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm to his 36‑year‑old father.
The accused is also charged with one count of damaging property.
A 51‑year‑old man was charged with criminal intimidation and arson. He allegedly threatened to kill his 43‑year‑old wife and allegedly set fire to their house and caused damages of $18,000.
There was one incident where 2 men aged 23 and 24 years allegedly assaulted 2 police officers who foiled their attempts of robbery of three individuals at a street market.
