Police have confirmed that a 22-year-old man died in a road accident in Taveuni last night and not a woman as they had earlier reported.
22-year-old Vilisi Sukaiverata lost his life in this accident.
Sukaiverata was travelling in a vehicle which went off the road and landed in a creek in Dromoninuku, Taveuni, at around 10pm yesterday.
Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu said a 20-year-old man who was also in the car is in Police custody however they are yet to establish if he was driving the car.
Weicavu said they are also taking witnesses’ statements.
He said the two were returning from work when the accident happened.
