A 22-year-old man convicted of murder of a farmer in Tuvavatu Rakiraki three years ago has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Lautoka High court.
The court heard that Avnit Singh who was 20-year-old at the time of the incident in May 2011 was employed at the farm of Bal Krishna together with his defacto partner.
Singh and his defacto partner had started to live with Krishna in his home.
The court also heard that Singh and his wife fled from the scene to Nadi where the defacto partner informed her father of the incident who later reported the matter to police.
Justice Sudharshana De Silva said that Singh did not show remorse for his conduct.
He has been sentenced to life imprisonment and is eligible for parole after he serves 20 years behind bars.
