A 21-year-old man who allegedly raped a 50-year-old woman has been remanded in custody by Magistrate Sufia Hamza.
Kitione Vakadranu is charged with one count of burglary, one count of criminal intimidation and one count of rape.
All the charges were read to Vakadranu and he told the court that he understood the charges.
The prosecution objected to the bail because it is an indictable offence.
It is alleged that Vakadranu broke into the victim’s house in Suva and raped the 50-year-old woman.
Magistrate Hamza has transferred the matter to the Suva High Court where it will be called on the 3rd of next month.
