21 seasonal workers have been chosen from Ovalau to work in New Zealand farms.
Speaking at the public consultation forum held at the Lomaiviti Provincial Office, Minister for Employment Jone Usamate says they are happy that two employers from New Zealand travelled to Ovalau and hand picked these workers from their villages.
Usamate says they are optimistic that these workers will represent Fiji well and show their employers that they can do a better job.
To date more than 800 workers from Fiji have been employed under the seasonal workers scheme.
The Minister says Fiji still needs to send more people, as Vanuatu is setting a very good example with 4,100 workers in New Zealand farms alone.
Usamate has encouraged the people of Ovalau to prepare their youths well for such overseas employment so that they are physically and mentally prepared to represent our country as seasonal workers.
