21 Fijian students received their scholarships from the Chinese Ambassador to Fiji His Excellency Huang Yong.

Proud parents and friends today witnessed the handover of Chinese scholarships to 21 Fijian students bound for China in the coming months for studies.

While presenting the scholarships today, the Ambassador of China to Fiji, His Excellency Huang Yong, said thanked the Fijian Government for implementing a multicultural policy and inclusive education policy.

Yong said this policy enables Fijian students to study abroad and experience other countries’ culture.

Yong encouraged the recipients to take full advantage of the opportunity to learn and understand China and its culture through their study majors and to come back and contribute to their mother land.

Meanwhile, also present at the handover was Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Board chairman Dixon Seeto, who said since 2009, the Chinese Government has been offering scholarships to Fijian students which he hopes will continue in the future.

Seeto said students from Fiji have benefitted from this assistance over the past five years in various subjects in some of the top universities in China.

Meanwhile, the first batch of students is expected to leave by the end of next month.
