21 Air Traffic Controllers have graduated from Airports Fiji Limited’s aviation academy this morning after completing their three months basic Air Traffic Control course.
AFL’s Executive Chairman Faiz Khan says that in late 2014 there were 14 graduating from this course and now another 21, making the total number 35 that have graduated in the last 18 months.
Khan says they have increased the number of air traffic controllers to ensure safe operational levels and in particular to ensure that their controllers are given greater opportunities for capacity building.
He says Airports Fiji Ltd aims to be the leader in the Pacific in air traffic surveillance.
Airports Fiji Ltd looks after the airspace spanning an area of six million square kilometres covering Kiribati, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Fiji.
