209,329 students from early childhood centres, primary and secondary schools have benefitted from the free fee school grants of $67.8 million for this year.
Minister of Education Dr Mahendra Reddy says $1.4 million has been allocated for early childhood centres, $35 million for primary schools and $31.4 million for secondary schools.
Responding to questions raised by government MP, Dr Brij Lal on the breakdown of free grants provided for kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and how it has to be best utilized by the school management, Dr Reddy says the ministry has given a guideline on how this money will be utilized for early childhood, primary and secondary schools.
Opposition MP, Niko Nawaikula then asked about the milk and weetbix grant.
Dr Reddy says the milk and weetbix assistance is part of a separate grant.
