2018 General Elections will once again be a one day event

The 2018 General Elections will once again be a one day event which will have pre-polling as well.

This has been confirmed by the Supervisor of Elections, Mohammad Saneem during the launch of the Fijian Elections Office Polling Venue Locator Application.

Saneem said the Geographical Information System will have better details of polling venues with things such as the exact location of the venue, the direction to the venue and photos of the venue.

Saneem clarified the venues shown on the map are provisional as they will be taking comments and having consultations on this and a final list will be published in 2018 as per the law.

Meanwhile Chairman of the Electoral Commission Chen Bunn Young launched the website and said with the G.I.S application, Fijians will be able to locate polling venues all over Fiji at their own convenience.

It took the Elections Office 18 months to collect the data required for this website.
