Acting Minister for Defence and National Security Jone Usamate today officiated at the launch of the 2017 Poppy Appeal which will continue until the celebration of Remembrance Day on 11th November.

Usamate is calling on all Fijians to take part in this worthy cause by buying a poppy to remember the fallen and honour those who are still with us today, although the numbers are decreasing.

He adds that the Poppy Appeal reassured Fiji’s continuous recognition of the priceless sacrifice made by son’s and daughters of Fiji who served in the Fijian Armed Forces during the First and Second World Wars.

The Appeal will be held around the country and the money raised will directly go into the Fijian Ex-Servicemen and Women Association.

The poppy can be bought for a dollar each.
