2,000 farmers within the seven districts of the Province of Ba, Nadroga/Navosa and Naitasiri will benefit from a program that will help them transition from subsistence farming to “production for profit” farming.
The program which is under the Fiji Agricultural Partnership Project will be measured by the number of households that are regularly marketing agricultural outputs to trading or processing enterprises.
This project will be implemented with the help of Partners in Community Development Fiji which is one of Fiji's longest established Non-Government Organisations.
The Ministry of Agriculture signed an agreement with Partners in Community Development Fiji today.
More than 30 villages are expected to benefit from this project.
The three-year pilot program is funded by the government at a cost of $500,000.
