The South Pacific Stock Exchange now has 20 listed companies having a total market capital of 3.62 billion dollars compared to less than a million in 2012.
This was highlighted by the SPSE Chair, Doctor Nur Bano Ali while speaking at the opening of their new office at Sabrina Building, Victoria Parade in Suva.
Ali says they have come through a lot over the last 7 years to come to where they are today.
The South Pacific Stock Exchange changed their logo to SPX and also had a new outdoor display screen at their new office.
Ali says the outdoor stock ticker display screen completes the look of the stock exchange globally.
She says Fiji now joins the world in achieving its imagery and visibility as the stock market.
While officiating at the opening of the SPX office, the Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this is an enormous potential for Fiji to further enhance in financial markets.
Sayed-Khaiyum says that he hopes SPX can reach out to other Pacific Islands and urged other shareholders to work actively and step up to contribute to their shares which will lead to growth in capital for Fiji.
