Bayly Memorial Primary School and Navesau Adventist High School in the Ra district received Internet connectivity equipment by the Australian Government Counsellor, Christina Munzer.
Munzer says that Australia is committed to support Fiji’s efforts in improving the educational curricular and operational needs.
She adds that the internet connectivity pilot study has the potential to revolutionize internet access to all primary and secondary schools in Fiji.
The two schools previously had an irregular internet coverage whereby access was often possible at inconvenient locations.
Permanent Secretary for Education, Iowane Tiko applauded the efforts of the Australian Government in assisting remote and isolated schools to connect them to the internet.
Tiko says that this solution allows the teachers to be exposed to new teaching methods using online resources.
He adds that it also allows the connection speed to remain consistent in providing an immediate and urgent online service to the schools.
The digital connectivity pilot project funded by the Australian Government through its Fiji Program Support Facility provided seven pilot schools with IT upgrades and new IT equipments to enable them to have a better internet coverage and a more stable connection.
