2 police officers suspended after alleged involvement in escape of remanded prisoner

The two police officers involved in the alleged escape of a remand prisoner last week have been suspended.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says investigations are underway to establish the circumstances that led to the incident.

She says investigators have also been directed to look into issues of supervision and command to prevent the reoccurrence of such escapes.

33-year-old Inoke Gadre was being escorted to Court when he escaped from the two officers at Government Buildings last Friday.

Gadre was charged with 8 counts of burglary and theft for four different cases where laptops and mobile phones were allegedly stolen from different homes in Vatoa Street in Narere last year.
