Two men and a woman who allegedly harboured prison escapee Deshwar Dutt have been remanded in custody by the Lautoka Magistrates Court this afternoon.
42-year-old Serupepeli Tuiwawa, 27-year-old Sahil Aman Iqbal and his 24-year-old defacto partner Arti Archana Kumar are each charged with Harboring a Prisoner at Large.
The three are from Waiyavi, Lautoka.
Police Prosecuting Officer Western ASP Anil Prasad strongly objected to bail saying Deshwar Dutt is a high-risk criminal and these three allegedly helped him.
He told the court that public needs protection and the courts have to come hard on those who are aiding escapees.
Magistrate Mosese Naivalu will deliver his bail ruling tomorrow afternoon.
A total of eight people have been charged with allegedly assisting Dutt during his escape.
