2 former WAF employees pleaded not guilty to corruption related charges

Two former Water Authority of Fiji employees have pleaded not guilty to corruption related charges.

FICAC charged them in June last year.

Laisiasa Valesu is facing one count each of abuse of office, forgery and obtaining a financial advantage in 2016 and Vilimaina Kalokalo was charged with one count of abuse of office. 

It is alleged that Valesu, the former WAF Land Acquisition Officer, enabled the processing of false payments  using  falsified documents which allowed him to obtain $13,348.19 under the Painapiu Sewerage Projects.

Kalokalo, the former WAF Assistant Project Manager is alleged to have facilitated the processing of these false payments.

The case has been adjourned to 4 April 2019.
