The Fiji Police Force’s Investigations and Intelligence Units have called on officers not to be swayed by negative criticisms against their work.
Chief of Intelligence and Investigations ACP Biu Matavou made this remarks during the closing of the two day Drug Intelligence Workshop.
ACP Matavou says the war on drugs will always be a contentious issue with some as they are trying to compare Fiji with what is happening in other countries.
He says officers heard talks about the war on drugs being a waste of resources and as law enforcement officers and they should not be caught up in such debates because they work according to the law which states that the cultivation of marijuana is illegal.
Matavou says it was vital for law enforcement agencies to be aware of what possible areas criminal elements would try to penetrate in order to advance the illegal drug trade.
The workshop facilitated by the New Zealand Government, Police and Customs was designed to train officers on the latest drug trends.
Close to 30 officers from the Fiji Police Force and FRCA were part of the two day workshop that was held at the PSC Training Centre in Nasese.
