Two Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority workers have been charged by FICAC for bribery related offences.
It is alleged that Avinesh Lal and Pritam Singh between the 2nd and 20th of this month, while being employed as an Auditor and a Tax Officer without lawful authority solicited $15,000 in cash from a businessman, as an inducement for abstaining from performing their duties in their capacity as an Auditor and a Tax Officer.
It is also alleged that Singh received $7,500 in cash and cheque from a businessman as an inducement for abstaining from performing his duty in his capacity as a Tax Officer at FRCA.
Singh and Lal have been granted bail for the sum of $500 with strict bail conditions.
The matter has been adjourned to the 15th of April.
